In general, US officials pay close attention to what ISIS publishes in Dabiq, and the fact that the suspected bomb appears there may lend more credibility to the terror group’s claims that this is the device that brought down the Russian jetliner. The magazine claimed jihadists had initially planned to down a aircraft belonging to the U.S.-led coalition conducting an air marketing crusade against Islamic State fighters in Iraq & Syria.

On Tuesday, November, 17, the Russian Federal Security Service head Alexander Bortnikov said that airliner crashed because of a terrorist attack.

But the spokesman said that no formal agreement had been struck between Egyptian authorities and the United States for the NTSB to participate officially in Egypt’s investigation of the crash of Metrojet flight 9268, and that no such agreement is imminent.

Today, the English-language ISIS magazine, Dabiq, wrote: “The blessed attacks against the Russians and the French were successfully executed despite the worldwide intelligence war against the Islamic State”.

Moscow began air strikes in Syria in September against what it said were “terrorist” targets including IS jihadists.

“Picking Russian Federation – aside from being a crime of opportunity – it is also the most hated foreign power among Syrians aside from Iran”, Awad said, referring to Syrians who oppose Assad. The magazine also displayed passports it said came from a few of the dead.

“A bomb was smuggled onto the airplane, leading to the deaths of 219 Russians and 5 other crusaders only a month after Russia’s thoughtless decision”, the article goes on to note, per the NY Times. Putin called the attack “one of the bloodiest crimes” and vowed to crush those responsible for the act, according to Associated Press, “We’re going to look for them everywhere wherever they are hiding”.

The Russian government is offering a $50 million reward for information about those who brought it down.

The militants did not say when or where the two were captured when announcing their captivity in a previous issue of the magazine.
