Colin Trevorrow Reportedly ‘Star Wars Episode IX’ Director

Not to be outdone by arch-rival Star Trek, which got its very own Bluetooth-enabled Communicator yesterday, Disney today released an official Star Wars app for Android and iOS. The lucky individual will reportedly be Colin Trevorrow, the director of the recent smash hit Jurassic World.

According to Heroic Hollywood, the Star Wars panel at Comic-Con will feature a surprise announcement that Colin Trevorrow is directing Star Wars Episode 9. Gonzalez reports that Trevorrow will be making an appearance at tonight’s panel to announce he’s helming the film, due out in 2019. We’ll know for sure by the end of play today.

The 8th episode of the Star Wars film franchise will commence filming in London next month.

Now we can add the controversial new lightsaber and Kylo Ren emojis to the growing list of “Star Wars” emoji that include C-3PO, stormtrooper and the new rolling droid BB8 from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.

Trevorrow taking over Star Wars Episode 9 will be just his second major studio film and just his third in five years. They also probably looked at the film’s box office as it has received $1.4 billion worldwide. Abrams is directing the upcoming “The Force Awakens” and that Rian Johnson (“Looper“) will be tackling “Episode VIII“.

“Trevorrow’s Jurassic World is forgettable, lacking the kind of tension-filled action sequences or delightful character moments that would point to greater success in the realm of big budget filmmaking”. The movie has outgrossed Avengers: Age of Ultron already.
