Next Witcher 3 expansion to be as big as Witcher 2

These expansions are supposed to be fully fleshed out experiences, with new stories, new characters, new items, all interspersed with the high quality cutscenes you’re used to from the main game. Forget the waves of immaculately designed side stuff and optional Witcher contracts and you’re still left with a game that is leaps and bounds more packed than both its predecessors combined.

CD Projekt Red has pulled back the curtain on its next patch for The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, which will be available next week.

That sounds like a lot but having spent some time with Wild Hunt we know that’s just the surface, likely the amount of time it would take for a player to skim through the main story.

With the upcoming patch 1.07, which was confirmed earlier this week, CD Projekt Red wants to bring all versions of the game to the same number.

That’s according to game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who told Gamereactor that he suspects the expansions will even end up being around the same size as the second game in the series. In theory that makes sense, but the Witcher 3 is one of the biggest AAA game in years and it looks gorgeous, has enormous detail and great storytelling. “I think that people will be happy”.

However, Momot hasn’t said a definitive no and that means there’s still a real possibility of a new way to play The Witcher 3 arriving down the line. I think it’s possible they will be bigger, because it’s always like this-we plan some time of hours and it’s twice or something like this-but I’m not promising anything right now. With the Poland-based developer giving Witcher 3 players so much quality content at such a rapid rate, it’s no wonder that the title has been receiving such great reviews.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt's upcoming DLC expansions will be close to the size of the entire Witcher 2
