The 49ers had a rugged ground game and a beefy offensive line that they leaned on down the stretch, although you can’t say their defense was as dominant as the Broncos’ group has been this season and Denver’s receivers are better. After Manning was pulled for Brock Osweiler, Vernon Davis saw four targets in garbage time, catching two of them for 19 yards. The Broncos are turning to Blake Osweiler as the starter for this week’s game against Chicago.
Osweiler is certainly a unique quarterback prospect. He’s young and has had a great opportunity to sit behind, and learn from, a future 1st ballot Hall of Famer.
He now holds almost every major passing record, breaking Brett Favre’s record for career passing yards in that game against Kansas City. “At the end of the day, it’s just a football game”. He played pretty well in his relief effort against the Chiefs. I’m really interested to see how the Broncos look with Brock Osweiler under center.
LANGFORD’S LOOK: Langford has been doing a good job filling in for the injured Matt Forte (knee) the past two games.
This game is going to come down to the play of Brock Osweiler. With cornerback Aqib Talib returning to the starting lineup for the Denver Broncos defense, the team will look forward to getting back on track in week 11. Quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp and offensive coordinator Rick Dennison may be fine coaches, but they could never help Osweiler the way Manning could.
Osweiler doesn’t have to win the game for Denver; he just needs to not be the reason they lose. We should be able to create turnovers and get to Cutler early and often.
Selfie. During the loss to Kansas City, Manning proved himself to be a selfish, self-absorbed man, by keeping himself in the game at the expense of the Broncos reaching a victory.

What Osweiler does not have is Manning’s skill recognising defences.
Dallas dropped all seven games he missed with a broken collarbone. He is quicker, and as a result, Kubiak may dial up the bootleg more in this game, particularly if the Broncos can get the running game working.
Manning (18) in his rookie season with the Colts, the only other season Manning has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns other than this year, 2015.

Sunday will be his true indoctrination, and if he starts the ball rolling – the way Kaepernick did in 2012 – it could be the start of a fascinating second act for the Broncos, one that might not include Manning down the stretch. Osweiler’s 1:1 TD:INT ratio during last week’s game is significantly better than Manning’s averages. It can’t hurt the running game, which ranks as the season’s biggest disappointment.
