Sooners And Frogs Tied After One Quarter

TCU did show a few resilience in their hard-fought win on Saturday against the Jayhawks of Kansas.

TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin will not start Saturday against the Oklahoma Sooners, and he is unlikely to play with an ankle injury. Oklahoma State had it tied at 14 in the first quarter with the first of two touchdown catches from both James Washington and Jalen McCleskey, but Baylor cranked out 24 straight points to pull ahead and stay there.

CCM – Three weeks ago, TCU possessed one of the most prolific offenses in the country. Boykin’s a bona fide playmaker, and if he plays on Saturday the Sooners will have to pressure the senior into making poor decisions. Victory wasn’t secure until defensive back Steven Parker batted down Bram Kohlhausen’s 2-point pass attempt. If the Horned Frogs win, they still, oddly enough, have a few work to do when it comes to sneaking into the playoff.

Oklahoma’s defense came to play in this matchup and carried the Sooners throughout an injury-riddled second half. Importantly, the Horned Frogs also played slowly: The team averaged 68.5 plays per game in ’13 (approximately 2.1 plays per minute of possession), compared with 84 this season (approximately 2.7 plays per minute of possession).

Sooners coach Bob Stoops believes if they win that one, they should make it into the College Football Playoff. “So I think that’s more about why their team has moved to 17th in our ranking”. “When you can not be at your best and win, it’s always a positive against a ranked team”.

The Horned Frogs will be without top wide receiver Josh Doctson for the remainder of the regular season. Redshirt freshman Foster Sawyer will start tonight for the Frogs. On the Frogs’ first two possessions, Sawyer was 4-for-5 for 91 yards with a touchdown pass.

“That’s what we do, we fight back, no matter who’s on the field”, Green said. That’s what we’ve been taught to do. “We just laid it all out there, and unfortunately we came up short”. While he was playing in the first half, he took several hits and was limping before taking a hard shot to the head late in the second quarter.
