Jamie Vardy Ties Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Consecutive Premier League Goals Record
Leicester striker Jamie Vardy scored for the 10th straight English Premier League game on Saturday, tying the record held by former Manchester United star Ruud van Nistelrooy.

In the Championship, England Under-21s keeper Jordan Pickford scored an unfortunate own goal to give Blackburn the lead in Preston North End’s Lancashire derby at Deepdale, before failing to keep out a penalty just after half time as Rovers got a 2-1 win.
His 10th goal of the season saw Vardy hit the back of the net for the seventh successive Premier League fixture, adding his name to an elite group which includes Van Nistelrooy, Daniel Sturridge, Mark Stein, Ian Wright, Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and Emmanuel Adebayor.
Ranieri said: “I hope he is available for us”.
“We are top of the league but it is not important now”, he said.
However, it was Vardy’s strike partner who doubled the lead moments later as Mahrez was given time and space to pick out Leonardo Ulloa in the box and the Argentine as completely unmarked to head past Elliot and double the lead.
The Magpies are looking to build on their 1-0 win at Bournemouth prior to the global break.
“The physios have done brilliantly and they’ve got me through the game”.
Manchester City, leaders at the start of the day, conceded three goals in the first 32 minutes as Liverpool got their most impressive win yet under new coach Juergen Klopp, while Arsenal also blew an opportunity by losing 2-1 at West Bromwich Albion.
Claudio Ranieri’s team overcame Watford 2-1 at the King Power last time out to make it four wins and a draw through the course of their last five in the league and only Arsenal have managed to beat the Foxes this term.
Steve McClaren says Newcastle’s 3-0 defeat at home to Leicester was his side’s worst performance of the season so far.
“I also had Gabriel Batistuta score in 11 consecutive matches, but Jamie came from the non-league and he looks very confident”.
