Edwards: “No reason to speculate” about pitchman Jared Fogle

“Little League and Subway have had a long, successful partnership, and we appreciate Subway’s quick response in suspending its relationship with Jared Fogle as the legal process continues”, said Little League.

Fogle – rising to fame in 2000 as he lost 250 pounds eating Subway sandwiches – had his home raided in suburban Indianapolis raided Tuesday in connection to child pornography.

Fogle released a statement after Taylor’s arrest saying he was “shocked to learn of the disturbing allegations against Mr. Taylor”, and that the foundation immediately severed all ties with him. “If they sponsor Little League themselves I say they should continue to do it”, said Jared Getz.

Investigators had little to say about the raid, but the sandwich chain said it might be linked to the earlier arrest of someone who used to work for Fogle.

Authorities haven’t said anything linking the search at Fogle’s home to that case or any other investigation.

The company Monday afternoon also took down the unfortunately named “Jared’s pants Dance” game, which lived on its SubwayKids.com website. Federal prosecutors in May 2015 filed a criminal complaint charging Taylor, 43, with seven counts of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Guilty until proven innocent seems to be the guiding principle of Subway’s relationship with spokesman Jared Fogle regarding a federal investigation of child pornography.

“My life has evolved”, Fogle told Bloomberg Businessweek in an exclusive interview on June 17. Fogle quickly became the chain’s most visible advertising symbol, as Subway marketed themselves as a healthier alternative to other fast food places.

Elberger said, “Jared has been cooperating with law enforcement in its investigation of certain unspecified activities and looks forward to its conclusion”.

Officials with the FBI, the Indiana State Police and the US attorney’s office would not discuss the nature of the search.

Taylor recorded all of the graphic footage inside his home or his ex- homes between 2012 and this year, police said.

Authorities began searching Fogle’s home before sunrise Tuesday morning. Last year, industry tracker Technomic said average sales for Subway stores in the United States of America declined 3 percent from the previous year.

USA Today reported that “He was a 425-pound freshman at Indiana University when he embarked on an unusual diet of turkey and veggie subs in 1998”.

Jared Fogle left the now-former Subway spokesman and his attorney Ron Elberger leave Fogle's Zionsville Ind. home Tuesday
