“I’m the quarterback of Ohio State officer, there’s nothing you can do?” he says at the 1:10 mark of the dash cam video. “Officer, there’s nothing you can do?”

“It’s a mistake made, a serious mistake by a kid that’s really lived most of his life mistake free”, Meyer said. Barrett was measured at a 0.099 blood alcohol level.

Barrett’s financial aid will also be forfeited for the 2016 summer term, but he will return to his starting spot after already racking up 14 touchdowns this season.

Head coach Urban Meyer said Barrett would need a good week at practice in order for the redshirt sophomore quarterback to start on the road against IL. Barrett’s sense of responsibility as an Ohio State captain played a part in that decision, Templeton said. That charge got him suspended for the teams game with Minnesota this past week (they won).

Barrett apologized in the courtroom to his family and Ohio State fans in a brief statement. The officer tells him he has alcohol on his breath, and then administers a field sobriety test and places Barrett under arrest. Meyer didn’t discount Jones’ performance though, praising the Cleveland native for his efforts while emphasizing that through all the criticism, he still is 11-0 as a starter in scarlet and gray.
