Good to see Thanksgiving becoming a holiday again
Readers look forward to the arrival of the “Thanksgiving edition” of their local newspaper, stuffed with advertisements for the best retail sales, deals and coupons. And that’s because the very nature of shopping has been changing.

Though their figures vary, analysts agree that online shopping is growing at a much faster pace than in-person shopping. “We suspect early holiday shoppers could still be on the fence about whether or not to try their hand at finding online and in-store deals”. Its ” campaign launched November 2 as well and runs through New Year’s Day.
But after a national trend expanding the Christmas shopping season to Thanksgiving Day, and the weeks leading up to it, more businesses are beginning to pull back.
In the last few years, the Saturday before Christmas – this year December 19 – has been the busiest ka-ching day, Johnson said. “It’s been growing by leaps and bounds”. No wonder there is now a new day added in the United States: Tuesday giving.
Slick Deals is one of the biggest websites finding the best deals all year round. “Store hours have creeped up over the past 10 years”. The chain has started 90 days of deals.
Kit Dunlap, president and chief executive offices of the Greater Hall Chamber, said spending money on Black Friday in the city or county helps the tax base. “Year after year, more and more customers shop for deals on Amazon from the comfort of their own home, and we continue to make that process even more convenient for them”.
Those retailers can’t risk losing sales and market share to a rival by remaining closed on Thanksgiving.
“It’s Black November now”, he said.
But retailers aren’t hedging all of their bets on online shopping alone.
Coupons/Codes – If you want to save even more dough, check out the coupons and promotional codes before you go! “However, retailers have already given consumers several good reasons to start their holiday shopping early”. The store usually requires a minimum purchase of $35 for free shipping.
“They are in the spirit of shopping and what they find with us us quality”, she said. “They are also expecting to have ease of return”.
If you’re committed to deals, getting to the store earlier is better. Policies can vary widely from store to store and from sales event to event. But it’s a problem for their business because they lose impulse shoppers that way. Just because one store has a flashy advertisement of its markdown does not mean the price for the item is the best available.
Amazon, however, isn’t the only retailer advertising heavy discounts on popular items this Black Friday. It’s also not now part of this year’s Black Friday sale on Newegg. The Friday after Thanksgiving is just another business day for Downtown merchants. Sporting goods chain REI announced it would close its stores Friday to encourage people to enjoy the outdoors. That’s because as discounts become more generous, out-of-stock messages double or triple, depending on the product, the report found. “Retailers are trying to listen to their customers wants, and they are opening up at the times their customers want them to be open”.

But Dunlap admitted she has mixed feelings about Black Friday. He still sees a lot of people, but often comparing prices, not buying.
