Former Gamecock Dylan Thompson Active On 49ers Roster
San Francisco will explore trade options again this offseason, and it sounds like Kaepernick would welcome a fresh start, as well. Jed York and Colin Kaepernick certainly deserve each other, both having started in the National Football League with considerable promise, only to free-fall down parallel dumpster chutes after the foolish firing of the coach who made them look super not long ago.

Kaepernick reportedly told the team that he wanted to have the surgery, prompting the 49ers to make the move, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Niners originally had listed Kaepernick as probable for Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. He likened the situation to what Jay Cutler went through in Chicago previous year.
Thompson, 24, was the starting quarterback in the 2014 season for the gamecocks.
Though Glazer stopped short of saying the 49ers are considering ousting Tomsula at the end of the year, he raised the possibility.
The San Francisco 49ers have placed Colin Kaepernick on their Injured Reserve list, ending his year and more than likely his career in a 49ers uniform.
Baalke also disputed a report by NFL.com that Kaepernick had three suitors before the trade deadline passed earlier this month.
Kaepernick’s future with the 49ers is in question.
Kaepernick said Friday the injury is a leftover from a hit he absorbed in the team’s 17-3 loss to the Packers in Week 4, a game in which he was sacked six times.
Kaepernick will see respected specialist Dr. Peter Millett in Vail, Colorado, on Tuesday, and the expectation is that he’ll have surgery to fix a fully torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder that day.

The 49ers activated quarterback Dylan Thompson to the active roster, from the practice squad. But if the 49ers are serious about trading him, they’ll nearly certainly remind teams of that. Teams will be more eager to grab Kaepernick if he is healthy or close to 100 percent.
