Koke goal enough for Atlético Madrid win at Real Betis
Diego Simeone has revealed that he has “no interest” in the result of El Clasico this weekend, as the Atletico Madrid manager focuses on closing the gap at the top of La Liga.

An early goal from Koke was enough for Atletico Madrid to secure a battling 1-0 win at Real Betis and climb above rival Real Madrid into second place in La Liga.
Atletico find themselves four points behind defending champions Barcelona and two ahead of Real Madrid after Luis Enrique’s side dealt out a chastening 4-0 Clasico thumping at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
Atletico will look to close the gap on the league leaders to one point when they take on Real Betis in tomorrow evening’s game.
The visitors were rewarded for a fast start as Antonio Adan could only parry Fernando Torres’s shot on seven minutes and Koke was on hand to sweep home the rebound.
“It is nothing more than an anecdote that we are second at the moment and it would be a mistake for us to think of anything more than trying to finish third”.
“We’re going match-by-match and we’ll see how far we can go”.
Sergi Enrich had given Eibar the lead in the 27th, following a tribute before kickoff to the victims of the Paris terrorist attacks.
Eibar had a great chance to double its advantage in the 43rd, but goalkeeper Alphonse Areola saved Dani Garcia’s penalty kick following a foul by Costa in the area.
Levante made the most of Sporting Gijon’s defensive frailties to beat the Asturian side 3-0 at El Molinon and pick up their first win under coach Rubi.
Yannick Carrasco was a continual danger on the left wing for Atletico, causing plenty of problems for fullback Cristiano Piccini and also drifting inside to help build play in central midfield.

After Villarreal substitute Daniele Bonera was forced off with injury, having already made all three substitutions, Eibar winger Keko evened up the numbers by picking up two quick yellow cards.
