I challenge ‘failed and absurd’ Sukhbir Badal to come clean: Amarinder Singh

Speaking on the allegation made by the Deputy Chief Minister over the Congress Party of having links with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, Singh said that it was totally absurd as even the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) don’t have any information.

Congress deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, Captain Amarinder Singh, on Sunday, asked deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal to tender an unconditional apology to people he described as “anti national” for attending the Sarbat Khalsa.

“We requested the president to declare the Congress an anti-national party as it was working against the unity of the country”, said Badal, who was accompanied by party leaders.

Bajwa said Sukhbir was trying to redefine the term nationalist by terming the Congress as anti-national, while it is the Akali Dal that has been raising the secessionist demand.

Badal alleged that under Rahul’s leadership, the Congress was trying to create the same environment in which militancy had grown and gripped Punjab in the eighties and early nineties.

Punjab Congress leaders are expected to hold a counter-press conference later in the day today.

Badal on Saturday had called on President Pranab Mukherjee and suggested that the Congress party should be derecognized and declared as “anti-national”.

Referring to the “Sarbat Khalsa” (religious congregation of Sikhs) held at Amritsar on November 10, Amarinder Singh said the presence of a huge number of people there showed anger against the Badal government and it was not to support Khalistan, as is being projected by Sukhbir Singh Badal and Khalistan protagonist Simranjit Singh Mann together.

He said Congress leader Inderjit Singh Zira was also present.

He said that under Rahul Gandhi’s stewardship, the Congress was trying to take Punjab back to its dark days.

“Their (Badals’) frustration is natural”, he said, cited reports of Akali ministers being beaten up by public now.

Describing the SAD-BJP alliance as everlasting, the Chief Minister said that he would ever preserve this pious relationship between both the parties. “They (the organisation) appointed the convict in Beant Singh assassination case as chief priest”, he said.
