He said the ASEAN-India and East Asia Summits are being held at a critical juncture and “together, we will discuss the pressing security issues”. Swarup added that UN Reform, civil nuclear cooperation, and cooperation in space and agricultural research also came up for discussion.
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s forthcoming visit to Singapore, the contentious issue of cooperation in banking will feature prominently in the talks.
“I have found that with the election of Prime Minister Modi, his jelling of ideas as to the future of this great nation and the relationship they would share with America would be economic, would be strategic and would be cultural, with the understanding that our two nations have much in common”, Sessions said. “But at the same time, we find that a few people are not affected by viral because of immunity and inherent strength to counter the virus”, Modi said.
The United Kingdom ranks 18th in the list of India’s top 25 trading partners (it used to occupy the number one position for long even after India’s Independence) and two-way trade in 2014-15 stood at $14.34 billion. Singapore is a leading investor in India and several Indian companies are expanding their operations to Singapore.
Modi will be participating in ASEAN and East Asia Summit meetings in Kuala Lumpur. “We should strengthen efforts to prevent supply of arms to terrorists, disrupt terrorist movements and curb and criminalise terror financing”, he said. “India’s trade with Malaysia is also vibrant, particularly in commodities sector”, Mr Modi said in a Facebook update.
“The reaction to Modi’s visit, from the Indian diaspora in particular and in the press, has been extremely positive”.
Modi was addressing thousands of people, nearly all of Indian origin, at a Grand Community reception in his honour at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium, home to rock concerts and England’s national soccer team, during his three-day visit to the UK. They were assigned important desks related with policy and flagship programmes of the concerned ministries and departments.
However, following a change in mind by the local government, ethnic Indian associations which are working with NAMO in Singapore have been instructed to let their members know that Singaporeans are now permitted to go and listen to Modi.
