Jamie Vardy praises Leicester after win
For all his talk of progress, Newcastle have won two league games under him, against two teams playing in the Championship last season.

Rather than proving the subject of a blood-curdling murder mystery or a few very bad industrial mishap Jamie Vardy finds himself cast as the leading man in one of the more uplifting dramas to emerge from the Premier League in recent seasons.
It was just their third league defeat this season and hardly ideal preparation for their must-win Champions League group match at home to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday.
After watching his Leicester City side stroll to three points at St James” Park on Saturday afternoon, Claudio Ranieri has made no secret of his “pride’ when watching his troops.
Vardy’s run began on August 29, when he popped up with a late equaliser against Bournemouth, and he has gone on to net in each top-flight game since.
Manchester United’s Ruud Van Nistelrooy celebrates scoring the United’s second goal against Leicester City during their Barclaycard Premiership match at Walkers Stadium, Leicester, Saturday September 27, 2003.
He also became the first player to score in nine consecutive games in the same season, while the Van Niselrooy once again managed the same feat, but across two seasons.
Ahead of the win over Newcastle, former Manchester United striker Van Nistelrooy had taken to social media to wish Vardy good luck in pursuit of his record, but Vardy was keeping his feet on the ground after putting his name alongside the Dutchman in the history books.
He said: “During the week, in training, we look at ways that I can get me into my best positions – especially if I’m up front, and then go through on goal”. “I’ve got to give all the credit to the physios”.
“I want to say it’s a great achievement”. It shows the example of a team that a year ago were near the bottom of the league and are now at the top of the league.
“People kept sending his tweet to me, fair play to him for doing that”.
“I’m very proud. The players played compact and like a team”, Ranieri said.
“If you’d have said me and you will be there next week watching Leicester v Manchester United and it was first versus second, I’d have said you are mad”.
