Texans QB Brian Hoyer out for Jets game with concussion
Houston, meanwhile, was on the short week from its Monday night game at Cincinnati.

Amazingly, the Jets are still in the middle of the Playoff race.
That defense wasn’t humiliated on Sunday.
WATT ISN’T ideal ANYMORE: J.J. Watt had eight tackles and two sacks, but it was a day where his flawless record on offense was blemished. So the organization called former Texan T.J. Yates.
Even more worrisome: Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins repeatedly embarrassed Jets All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis, who left the game with a third-quarter concussion and might miss next Sunday’s home game against Miami.
A promising 4-1 start has faded as the Jets have lost four of their past five games, including a 24-17 defeat to Houston on Sunday at NRG Stadium. He caught two passes for 51 yards. Richardson did not practice last week but Jets coach Todd Bowles said his availability would be determined after pregame warmups. “I’m still committed to Ryan”, Bowles said. They tied the game 3-3 with 8:21 remaining in the first half of play.
“Hoyer is our starter”, coach Bill O’Brien said.
The Jets cobbled together an odd yet satisfying drive to the first touchdown scored on the Texans in 13 quarters. Yates and Hopkins linked up for a 20-yard score on the next possession. No other player has more, and Watt leads the league with 11.5 sacks. Early on in the third quarter, the Jets were 0 for 6 on third down conversions. They had one rushing touchdown, but it came from quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and not one of their running backs.
The momentum shift was brief.
This time it was on a play action fake, with Yates doing a few movement in the pocket.
With 7:57 left in the third quarter, Yates passed it to Cecil Shorts III, who then passed it to Alfred Blue for the 21-yard score, making it 17-10.
Unfortunately, the offense went 3 and out and gave the ball right back to the Jet’s offense.
The first time, quarterback T.J. Yates targeted Hopkins late in the second quarter, and Hopkins made a one-handed grab that looked easy.
The Texans didn’t manage a first down in the fourth quarter, but held on for the win thanks to interceptions by Eddie Pleasant and Andre Hal. CB Darrelle Revis was lost with a concussion in the third quarter and center Nick Mangold left the game with a possible fractured hand.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Revis struggle.

That gambit enabled the Texans to feature Hopkins, who produced five catches for 118 yards.
