American Music Awards 2015: Nicki Minaj and The Weeknd win big

No matter what rumours say, no one can beat the inner strength of One Direction as after receiving the Favourite Group- Pop/Rock award at American Music Awards 2015, they were also bagged the Artist of The Year. Taylor Swift direct the pack with probably the most nods of the evening, with Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, and much more with a couple of for themselves.

The 21-year-old entertainer performed three of his big hits and closed out the show in the pouring rain.

Jennifer Lopez, host of this year’s AMAs, kicked off the show with her dance moves featuring a few of the year’s most popular song tracks, including ones by Taylor Swift and Rihanna.

After embracing Trainor, Grande stood at the microphone and said: “Eeeew, I’m crying, I owe a lot of this to my Nana who voted, she told me: “Ariana, I went on the computer and voted so I think you will win”.

One Direction were at the American Music Awards on Sunday night, not just performing but picking up a fair number of trophies.

The lead singer of 5 Seconds of Summer, which performed during the show, said the band wants to help its fans make sense of the most recent terrorist attacks.

As for the Country category, the Favorite Artist nominees are Jason Aldean, Sam Hunt, Luke Bryan, Kelsea Ballerini, Carrie Underwood, and Miranda Lambert. MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS were joined by special guest LEON BRIDGES for a powerful new song that takes aim at the pharmaceutical industry.

JLo did not walk the red carpet and it kept us hanging the whole night – until she opened the show with the sickest performance we’ve ever seen.

Star Wars” veteran Harrison Ford introduced five-piece a cappella group Pentatonix, who put their vocals to John Williams’ iconic “Star Wars” score, along with a full orchestra on stage.
