PM unveils Torana Gate in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will depart from Malaysia on Monday and reach Singapore this evening on the final leg of his two-nation tour, after which he will return to India on Wednesday night ahead of the Winter Session of Parliament which is set to begin on November 26.

“Malaysia has completed several important projects, including in the road sector, in India”.
Acknowledging that India has a very dynamic and strong defense industry, Najib said the relevant ministries in Malaysia and India would discuss possibilities of expanding bilateral defence and security. “We are located on the same maritime route”, he added.
Modi complimented Razak for providing leadership in combating extremism and radicalisation, rejecting any link between terrorism and religion, and in highlighting the real values of Islam.
“We will make defence cooperation stronger”.
Warning that terrorism is the “biggest threat” to the world, Modi had on Sunday said it should be delinked from religion. “We will continue to deepen our cooperation in this area”, he said on the third day of his visit to Malaysia that marked the beginning of the bilateral phase.
The Indian Prime Minister also hoped bilateral trade and investment relations can be scaled up significantly. “Malaysia’s competence in infrastructure is well known”.
“The Torana Gate is not only a symbol of the friendship between India and Malaysia, but it is also a symbol of unity and understanding amidst established ethnic diversity in Malaysia”, it said. Referring to the two back to back airline tragedies, Modi said the courage showed by the nation was worth paying a salute.
His speech text was read out by the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
PM Modi also announced the inauguration of Torana Gate at the entrance of Little India in Bricksfield, Kuala Lumpur.
“We invite Malaysian students to study in India and urge early conclusion of an agreement on Mutual Recognition of Degrees”.
“We will play special emphasis on cultural and people to people ties”.

Najib said, Malaysia was also emphasizing on people to people relationship with China especially among youths, with the establishment of Xiamen University Malaysia Campus (XMUMC) in Salak Tinggi, Sepang.
