“During the holidays, you have more people flying that aren’t used to flying, or have never flown before, and they don’t know the drills are”, says Boyd.

According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), gasoline prices averaging around $2 per gallon could drive an increase in highway travelers this Thanksgiving. “In fact, [they] could be the lowest for this holiday in the last several years”.

Drivers are continuing to benefit from crude oil prices that remain noticeably low compared with previous years.

If you’ll be driving this Thanksgiving, you might see an increase in traffic as you make your way to holiday gatherings.

Still, airport spokesman Kent Boyd says during Thanksgiving and Christmas, many flyers expect the airport to be extra crowded.

Holiday travel has been creeping up for the past seven years, and this Thanksgiving, more Americans will travel than at any time since 2007, Marshall Doney, AAA president and CEO, said in a news release.

Prices in a few parts of the state have already dropped to around the $2.00 mark for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel.
