Obama, who is set to visit Paris at the end of the month for a major climate conference, said world leaders would be sending an important message by not letting last week’s attack in Paris, in which 130 people were killed, prevent them from attending. Having secured a veto-proof majority in the House, supporters are now hoping for a repeat in the Senate, while Obama works to shift the conversation to milder visa waiver changes that would not affect Syrian refugees.

“They’re a bunch of killers with good social media”.

Obama said Sunday that the world will not accept attacks on civilians as the “new normal” and said “viciousness of a handful of killers” who have “good social media” won’t stop the world from doing business. The White House has insisted there will be no change in plans.

Before the videos threatening Russia, America and “other countries” that were engaged in the battle against the ISIS in Syria, the terrorist organization had claimed responsibility for downing a Russian passenger jet over Egypt’s Sinai desert.

“Destroying ISIL is not only a realistic goal”, Obama said, using a preferred acronym for the terror group.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Saturday that he wanted global co-operation to combat terrorism after Islamist militants allied to the Al-Qaeda terrorist network killed 19 people, including six Russians, in an attack on a luxury hotel in the West African nation of Mali. The two met last week during an economic summit in Turkey.

Almost five years of fighting between the Assad government and rebels has created a vacuum that allowed Isis to thrive in both Syria and Iraq. In addition, 63% of Americans say they believe ground troops will be necessary to defeat ISIS.

As Obama spoke in the Malaysian capital, other Western leaders were stepping up their rhetoric against IS, while the European diplomatic hub of Brussels remained under the highest threat level for the second day in a row. However, the American President, with the cooperation of other world leaders, has significantly stepped up offensive against ISIS. Hollande then goes to Russian Federation for similar talks with Putin. The violence has killed more than 250,000 people and displaced millions, sparking a refugee crisis in Europe.

Obama has focused his ire on Republicans throughout the trip, harshly criticizing lawmakers and presidential candidates for acting contrary to American values. “And the American people, in the past, have confronted a few very real, enormous threats, and we beat them”.

“It is worth us remembering when we look at the statistics that there are lovely, wonderful lives behind the awful death tolls we see in these places”, he said.
