The Hunger Games’ Opens With $101 Million In Ticket Sales

A heroine named Katniss proved to be catnip to the nation’s moviegoers this weekend, as “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2” opened with $101 million in ticket sales. So, now it’s time to cue the nostalgia for the previous instalments.

THE final film in the science-fiction franchise, starring Liam Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence and Woody Harrelson, debuted this week, raking in $9.832 million. Indeed, the four-film series adapted from Suzanne Collins’ novel original trilogy will finally showcase its killer coda to moviegoers; marking the end of one of the most lucrative young-adult-aimed film franchises of all time. The first was in Berlin when principle photography wrapped. “We were like, ‘Oh, okay, so now we can just be friends.'” and with the saga coming to an end with the release of Mockingjay Part 2, she’s beginning to see the story’s true importance. A year later, she had to return to the role for an additional scene that has a special place in her heart because she got to work with her two nephews.

“So it was this awesome closure to this character whom I’ve loved for so many years”.

As someone who read the book series, I was anxious about this last film.

Unfortunately, this was lost through “the aesthetically misguided idea of breaking the final book into two films” which “has ended up making the dragged-out proceedings feel anti-climactic and emotionally static”, he says. “It felt like nine weeks”. “We were all just complaining”. We were exhausted, because when we did the fight sequence in the sewer, all of our gear and our costumes were completely waterlogged, so it was an extra 20 pounds.

“They played my children in the scene that I shot”.

The reviews for “Mockingjay – Part 2” may explain the lackluster opening weekend. “I don’t see a man being called a brat”. “For this last part, (Gale) is front and centre, and is really able to make an impact”.

“We’re in the home stretch”, Dergarabedian said. Even “Mockingjay – Part 1” had an opening of $17 million.

Aside from a few outlandish moments toward the end, such as when the creatures from The Descent unexpectedly show up, the picture benefits from its relentless bleakness, as decent people die unexpectedly, personal traumas continue to haunt numerous characters, and Katniss learns that when it comes to government, plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose. “He’s fantastic. There’s no one better to work with than Francis”.
