At least 500 people were at the Bunny Friend playground to film a music video. Six more of the injured made their way to hospitals by other means. Three witnesses have confirmed that they saw a silver colored machine gun in the hands of a man and when the man heard the sound of more gun shots coming from the crowd, he turned and ran away.

He says ambulances took 10 people to hospitals, and police were told that others were taken by private vehicles.

Police said they are not sure how serious the injuries are at this time.

Investigators don’t know what started the shooting, police spokesman Tyler Gamble said.

Police Superintendent Michael Harrison told WDSU-TV that the shooting might have been gang-related.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu, speaking in a news conference aired on WWL-TV, called on people who were in the park to come forward with information.
