Cotto and Alvarez in fight that may be worth the price
Despite a couple of rounds that were clearly scored for Cotto, Canelo was pretty much in control and unhurt which enabled him to ease to a wide points win on the judges cards 119-109, 118-110 and 117-111.

“I don’t need a title”, Cotto said.
Golovkin, however, is not a fan of the idea, saying, “There is no chance that I will go to 155-pounds for a “Canelo” fight”.
Here is the recap: (Scoop) The Miguel Cotto vs. Canelo Alvarez boxing match is scheduled to screen live in select movie theaters nationwide. Triple-G is a great fighter, and he is my friend.
“This fight speaks for itself”.
One scenario would be for both boxers to fight other opponents in the spring Alvarez has the Cinco de Mayo weekend Mayweather always favored for his big pay-per-view fights already lined up and then meet in September.
Canelo reiterated his readiness to fight Golovkin during the post-fight press conference, telling the media that he is “not afraid of anyone”, even flexing both of his biceps to signal that he is looking forward to the required bout, as per Yahoo Sports. One of the featured prelim bouts was not without controversy as defending IBF bantamweight champion Randy Caballero had to vacate his title on the scale as he missed weight badly.
After his huge win over Puerto Rican rival Miguel Cotto, Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is open to the possibility that Floyd Mayweather will return to boxing and possibly have a rematch with the undefeated American, according to Alvarez’s promoter and former fighter Oscar De La Hoya. “That is how important this event is to us”. De La Hoya spoke to FightHub about Canelo-Golovkin, assuring everyone the fight will happen, but not committing to it happening right away. Of his five career losses, three of them were by decision.
Obstacles for an immediate fight with Golovkin are Alvarez’s hesitation to agree to fight at a 160-pound limit after Saturday’s 155-pound catchweight fight, and a concern that Golovkin, after drawing only 150,000 pay-per-view buys in October, is still building his brand. I know that Canelo is ready, too. I think that would be a good fight for him. “I didn’t want any doubts”.
Cotto had given up the WBC crown he won by beating Sergio Martinez past year due to a row over sanctioning fees, meaning the title was on the line for Alvarez only.
The win for Canelo makes him the new lineal middleweight champion in addition to the WBC middleweight.

He may get that WBC strap of Alvarez’s without throwing a punch. I am patiently waiting for Saturday night to have my hand raised in victory once again. I learn every day.
