Rob Ryan: Everything in New Orleans blamed on me, including Katrina

Fired as New Orleans Saints’ defenisve coordinator this past week after two-plus seasons, Ryan is on NFL Network’s “Game Day Morning” as a commentator, and as you’d expect when there’s a camera on a Ryan brother, a few amusing lines come out. “Everything in New Orleans is being blamed on me, including Katrina”. With that being said, you know I ain’t going to lie to you, I think he is, you know, I think it would be pretty fun.

“A week after his firing, Ryan joked about the amount of blame he was taking for a Black & Gold defense ranked last in the National Football League in yards and scoring this season”.

Ryan was sacked after the Saints gave up 47 points to the Redskins last week. New Orleans had a bye this week, which Ryan also mentioned Sunday.

“They made my bye week turn into a bye-bye week”, he said.

According to the former defensive coordinator, he enjoyed his time in the city. Was the Saints’ defense bad under Ryan? Yes. Kids have to make new friends, they like a place, now they have to move.

“[Firings] happens, it happens to every coach”, said Rex Ryan. My daughter’s gonna have to uproot again, and it’s tough.
