Hey Arnold! Is Coming Back to TV

Hicks went on to say that these revivals will be targeted mainly at today’s kids rather than viewers who grew up with the originals. Nickelodeon tells Variety that the movie will pick up where the series let off, and will resolve unanswered questions like the whereabouts of Arnold’s parents. As Variety reports, the network has green-lit plans for a film based on Hey Arnold!

Phase one of Nickelodeon’s return to glory is complete with The Splat, a ’90s programming block, going strong on Teen Nick. Their challenge is to invite new viewers in with the old.

Hey Arnold, created by Craig Bartlett, aired from 1996 – 2004 and followed Arnold, a fourth-grader who lived in a boarding house with his grandparents and experienced life with a diverse group of friends. “You have to make it relevant to them but also nod to the audience that is going to be interested”.

Here’s a welcome blast from the past – hit Nickelodeon series Hey Arnold! is making a comeback – initially in the form of a TV movie. “Our library [of original series] has come to fruition and it’s time for it to start coming back to life”. Viscardi is the co-creator of the classic Nickelodeon series “The Adventures of Pete & Pete”.

Despite never fully explaining what exactly happened to Arnolds parents, Hey Arnold! did broach the subject on a few occasions. There is no air date yet for when the movie will run.
