Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 2 aims for $120 million

It is in first place in 66 of 68 markets with 19 more territories, including China and Mexico, opening Friday. Mockingjay 2 is expected to collect $48 million by Friday.

“Mockingjay Part 2” film is now holding the number one slot in 66 out of the 68 territories it is playing in.

The holiday movie season has had a robust start and should continue bringing in big box office numbers with two heavy hitters entering the fray next week.

A few are questioning the studio’s decision to break up Suzanne Collins’ last book into two separate films. Produced by Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik.

Even though an actual “Hunger Games” isn’t present in this film, it still has all the elements of the games, and people get killed one after another in horrifying ways.

Along with Jennifer Lawrence, the star cast boasts of impressive names like Liam Hemsworth, Julianne Moore, Elizabeth Banks, Natalie Dormer, Stef Dawson, Jeffrey Wright and Evan Ross.

The filmmaker credits the three young headliners for the positive on-set environment, which includs the gruelling eleven months of shooting both Mockingjay films.

Critics have found “Mockingjay 2” to be a worthy sendoff for the franchise, earning it a 72% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. “But I didn’t really feel it so much character-wise at the end of Hunger Games, because these movies have been my life for so many years”. According to Lawrence, this hypothetical prequel would probably not see the return of Katniss Everdeen. Of course, as the army of the rebellion grows stronger an near their final target, the danger increases with a deadly trap around every corner as Katniss and her team move closer and closer to the Capitol’s center. “The movie’s showing is driven by reviews and great word-of-mouth from the festival circuit”, TWC distribution chief Erik Lomis said, adding that 62 percent Carol’s audience was female, while almost 60 percent of all ticket buyers were over the age of 50.

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part-1” was the third release. This part was released in 2014.

The weakness of the new films allowed holdovers “Spectre” and “The Peanuts Movie” to pad their box office results. This movie had won the hearts of viewers.

To date, there have been only 34 movies in history to open at over $100 million, and each film in “The Hunger Games” series has hit that massive benchmark. We are hoping that this movie will earn $120 million on box office. “It’s amusing, we develop these characters and a few months later we never see them again”, she says.
