Can Jurgen Klopp Really Change Liverpool’s Fortune?

“I’m really satisfied with everyone’s performance”, added the centre-back, who replaced the injured Mamadou Sakho for Saturday’s game.

“He wants a reaction when we lose that ball and to get after it quickly”, said Milner of Klopp’s expectations from his players. Under Rodgers, Roberto Firmino seemed to be getting the “Sakho treatment” of being underplayed and unappreciated, but, thanks to Klopp, is now looking like the player we splashed out £29m for.

“He’s never fully convinced when he’s had that chance”.

Liverpool secured an excellent 4-1 win over City on Saturday, but Klopp was seen shouting at his players at various points despite such a seemingly comfortable win. And the longer Klopp is here, the more good days we can expect.

Jurgen Klopp insists that Liverpool’s early-season problems were not the fault of Brendan Rodgers, but that “they had to change something”.

Carragher said he believes Liverpool will greatly miss Sakho while he’s out of action. “I was speaking to the boys, and they were disappointed, and were complimentary about how we played, but they know they can play a lot better than that”.

Lovren has recently faced a period on the sidelines due to an ankle injury, his last start before the City game came in the 3-1 defeat to Manchester United in September.

“I remember growing up watching Alan Hansen on Match of the Day and Andy Gray on Sky and saw what they say and how they do things”, he said.

“It [football] is a matter of opinions. If people like Monday Night Football or watching us, then we’re doing something right”.

“I think six weeks is not enough to judge (the players)”. But it would be hard to go and buy players in the January transfer window as there is not much training you can give him to the player and you have to land the player straight on the field. “I have to decide this tomorrow – and I’ll start thinking about it after the press conference”.
