Saharanpur: Rahul Gandhi today took potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his foreign trips, saying while the PM was busy flying overseas Congress stood with farmers and labourers even as he launched a “padayatra” to highlight the plight of sugarcane farmers in Uttar Pradesh.

“He goes to London, Malaysia, America and meets big people but there are no Acche din here”.

Regarding the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Masood had said “Modi ki boti-boti kara doonga” (I will have Modi torn into pieces).

The Congress Vice President interacted with farmers in Hardakhedi, Sikrikalan and Patni villages of the district.

Making light of the Congress V-P’s pro-farmers padyatra, Mr Sharma said Mr Gandhi has no right to talk about their interest as they had suffered the most during the 10-year UPA rule that saw a large number of suicides by farmers. They told me that money is not given to them. Good days will truly come only when condition of the farmers and poor improves.

Rahul said, “We don’t want an India where the poor, farmers and oppressed are unhappy”.

Talking about UP, Rahul asked CM Akhilesh Yadav to keep up his promise of bringing a change in the state.

Saharanpur is part of western Uttar Pradesh where there is a major issue of payment arrears to sugarcane growers who are seeking a higher price for their produce. Please help the farmers who are in distress and the youth who are not getting jobs.
