Smart marketers are taking advantage of the power of Black Friday as a time for bargains.

Deloitte predicts total holiday sales this year will increase in the range of 3.5 percent to 4 percent, while online sales will rise up to 9 percent. IPG found only 15 per cent of Canadians will shop in the USA this year on Black Friday, down 37 per cent from a year ago.
For instance, 2014 was the first year that online shopping took over physical stores globally.
“The urgency of shopping on that day is being reduced”, added Chapman University economist Essie Adibi.

Black Friday shoppers generally look for big-ticket items such as flat screen TVs that carry a larger discount than apparel promotions, said Charlie O’Shea, retail analyst for Moody’s. And anything that causes people to literally camp outside your store in tents has to be good for business!
