Packers back in control of NFC North (AUDIO)

We Minnesota fans can never have anything nice.

A big reason the Vikings have stayed one step ahead of opponents on offense is the rise of rookie receiver Stefon Diggs, who is doing a ton of damage with his speed and agility out of the slot.

Green Bay’s next two games are home against Chicago on Thanksgiving and then at Detroit. The Vikings squandered a prime opportunity to take control of the race.

Rodgers threw for 333 yards but needed 61 – a franchise record-tying 61 – attempts to do so, which explains why his passer rating (83.6) was no better than average. The Vikings line needs to give him the chance.

Adrian Peterson did not follow up his 203-yard performance of last week. Aside from the 27 yard touchdown, he made a juggling 37 yard grab on a sideline route. None of those teams has a winning record.

We’ve been largely down on Datone Jones since the Packers drafted him in the first round.

The coaches chipped in with an offensive game plan that included more running and long passes, two things that had been all but abandoned in the last three games. After the game, Rudolph reportedly told Bridgewater that he could name the restaurant-dinner was on Rudy-to make amends.

The Vikings (7-3) had their five-game winning streak shoved back in their face by a proud Packers team that clearly wasn’t ready to concede a division it has won four straight times.

Minnesota also helped the Packers with uncharacteristic penalties. Whether that changes this season or not remains to be seen.

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers responded with a resolute victory, fending off the Vikings like Clay Matthews waving his finger after tackling Adrian Peterson for a loss.

Rodgers threw two touchdowns to wideouts James Jones and Randall Cobb and had no interceptions and two sacks on the way to the bounce back win. The Vikings lead the league in rushing but are #29 or worse in passing and total offense. Defenses have caught on to Rodgers’ scrambling ways and have contained him in the pocket. The Bridgewater-Johnson connection was big previous year and Johnson is a play maker.

The Packers improved to 7-3 and regained a share of first place in the NFC North with the Vikings (7-3). Even though Mason Crosby and the defense were the stars of the game for Green Bay. He was questionable on the Friday injury report, yet started the game. His performance was questionable to say the least, with two holding calls, an offside and an inability to keep his quarterback clean. “We have a lot of those around here, so we knew how to approach it. We came in as the hunters today”. He returned later in the game…. “They did a great job containing us as a group today”. “You can’t return the kickoff back and then get a 15-yard penalty”.

Minnesota would respond on the next drive with a touchdown to give them a 6-3 lead. Bridgewater would head to the locker room, replaced by Shaun Hill for the rest of the half.

Penalties hurt Minnesota, they committed 8 for 110 yards including an unneccessary roughness flag against Cordarelle Patterson. That touchdown put the Packers up 10, 16-6 at halftime.

It is hard to hear such loud renditions of “Go, Pack, go” during the game. You probably know the answer to that question. However, the Packers avoided the third-down struggles that contributed to their three-game slide while producing 30 points for the first time since September, a promising sign for a team still clinging to Super Bowl aspirations.
