Awaken the Force Inside Your Google Apps
Google’s motto may be, “Don’t be evil”, but they still let you choose the dark side of the Force with a new extension that will Star Wars-ify your internet browsing experience.

Once you’ve signed up, you’ll get a customised image skin for your Google profile photo and the opportunity to share your decision with the world via social media.
Disney and Google today rolled out a new immersive experience marketing campaign for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Chrome tabs, for instance, will show you pictures of crashed Star Destroyers, while the Street View marker in Maps gets re-clothed as a Rebel Alliance pilot or as a Stormtrooper. The force is about to awaken and Google wants you to choose sides. There are even more changes to Chrome, Chromecast, Google Translate, Waze, and more. The changes are minimal, but fans will notice the progress, volume, and page-loading bars on the online video site turn into glowing lightsabers. While many will be debating which side of the Force they will choose, we’re more curious to find out how much money Google is making with this little stunt. It’s the first of at least a few new Star Wars movies in the works, including next year’s anthology film, Star Wars: Rogue One.
Users of Google’s apps can pick either the light or dark side and then watch the apps “transform to reflect your path”. Starting Monday, you can add a Star Wars theme to numerous Google apps and declare your allegiance to the Jedi or the Dark Side. Have patience if you don’t see anything that different straight away, Google warns there could be a short wait before changes go live.
