City of Joplin offices closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving holiday
In recognition of the Thanksgiving holiday, the City of Joplin offices will be closed on Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27. Regular Thursday garbage customers will receive the excess collection on Friday, and regular Friday customers will receive the excess collection on Saturday following Thanksgiving, in accordance with the adjusted garbage collection. On Friday, workers will do the Thursday route pickup.

The Gazette: Office closed Thursday; newspaper delivery unaffected.
Schools: Howard County Public Schools close three hours early on Monday and Tuesday, and there is no half-day prekindergarten or RECC. The Warrenton Library is closed Thursday through Sunday. All other collection schedules remain unchanged. The Astoria Aquatic Center is open from 5 to 11 a.m. Thursday. It will reopen Saturday from 7 a.m.to 3 p.m. The regular operating schedule is Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m.to 3 p.m. Whole Foods is open from 7 a.m.to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving. There will be no Friday Night Dance at the Senior Center Friday.
The city also reminds residents that City Hall will be closed Thanksgiving and the following day.
Malls: Most open at 6 p.m. Thursday. Peninsula Sanitation’s transfer station is closed Thursday.

Anyone wishing to make a payment can place it in one of the two available drop boxes. Payments will be credited on the next business day. Call 9-1-1 to report any emergencies.
