The two leaders were spotted looking very chummy at a summit Thursday in the Philippines.
Obama warned him: “If you don’t want to gray like me, you need to start dyeing it soon”.
Trudeau said while travelling from Turkey to Manila that one of his priorities would be to talk about “a proper continental approach” in North America.

Nieto arrived in the Philippines on Tuesday and was escorted by Presidential sister Kris Aquino to the Luneta Park, where he offered flowers to Jose Rizal, a Filipino hero and writer who fought against Spanish colonizers. U.S. President Barack Obama gestures during a dialogue at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO summit in Manila, Philippines, Wednesday, November 18, 2015. A few witty swooned fans even coined the term “bae-conomic” for Nieto and Trudeau.
“The Internet has found a reason to care about the APEC summit”, tweeted online publication GlobalPost, using “APEChottie” as a hashtag.
Justin Trudeau has left the building. Local activists have been urging the new Canadian prime minister, sworn into power two weeks ago, to do something about the issue.
Citing the obstacles to sustainable growth posed by natural disasters, including extreme weather, the leaders agreed to co-operate against climate change.
Remember when Barack Obama was the “it” leader?
Over the past two decades, “APEC and imperialist globalization have only benefited the rich countries while further impoverishing developing countries like the Philippines”, said protest leader Renato Reyes, of the left-wing alliance Bayan.
On the refugee issue, Trudeau and Obama are on the same page on bringing Syrian refugees to their countries despite security concerns that have surfaced since the attacks in France last week that killed 129 people. Mexico’s Pena Nieto is 49.
The 2016 APEC summit is planned for Peru, 2017 will be in Vietnam and Papua New Guinea will host the 2018 summit. But the other Pacific Rim leaders are in their early 60s or older.
“As we look back exactly 26 years to when the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted and opened for signature, we can see that real progress has been made in moving the markers forward for young people around the globe”.
