Vardy’s 10-game goal run ties EPL record
Leicester became the third team to top the table on Saturday after Manchester City started it in first place and Manchester United briefly led after they won 2-1 at Watford in the early kickoff.

Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy celebrates his goal during the English Premier League soccer match between Newcastle United and Leicester City at St James’ Park, Newcastle, England, Saturday, November 21, 2015.
Jamie Vardy was again the hero, equalling Ruud van Nistelrooy’s EPL record by scoring in a 10th straight game.
If he manages that, Vardy can set his sights on the all-time English top-flight record for goals in an unbroken run of 12 club matches set by Jimmy Dunne of Sheffield United in the old First Division during the 1931/32 season.
Vardy was the first player to score against Steve McClaren’s Magpies in three fixtures after they had recorded back-to-back clean sheets and appeared to be turning the corner under the ex-England manager prior to the worldwide break.
“I wrote the teams down and said: What Newcastle player could get into the Leicester team?”
While Newcastle fans may have admired Vardy’s efforts, they were left deflated by their team’s performance.
The 28-year-old, who was still playing non-league football with Fleetwood in 2012, added: “My feet are on the ground”.
However, it was Vardy’s strike partner who doubled the lead moments later as Mahrez was given time and space to pick out Leonardo Ulloa in the box and the Argentine as completely unmarked to head past Elliot and double the lead.
Claudio Ranieri, the Leicester manager, was asked to rank Vardy and his achievement among those the Italian has overseen in a 30-year career. “But I want to see us there at the end of the race”. So we concentrate on what their defenders are like, if they’re going to come in for the tackle and everything like that.
Gary Neville challenged red-hot Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy to prove another point when his side face bigger clubs in coming matches. “When we get there, we’ll look at what we can achieve”.
Everton crushed Aston Villa 4-0 with Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku each scoring twice to leave Villa rock bottom with five points from 13 games.
