Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco will miss the remainder of the season after tearing ligaments in his left knee.

It was obvious to everyone (except the officials and the ATC spotter) that Rams quarterback Case Keenum should have been removed from play and checked for a concussion after hitting his helmet on the turf late in Sunday’s game at Baltimore.

The Baltimore Ravens continue to chart new depths of misery with the news that they have lost two of their best players for the rest of the season.

That barely improved the mood for the home fans, though, as they also had to watch Joe Flacco throw an interception and running back Justin Forsett depart with a broken arm during a miserable opening 30 minutes. At worst, it seemed like an ankle injury, but the devastating news ended Flacco’s season.

Chiefs RB Spencer Ware The Chiefs offense looked unstoppable against the Chargers in their 33-3 win in San Diego, and much of that came without the help of running back Charcandrick West. He recorded just 16 yards on 11 carries before leaving the game with a hamstring injury; he did not return.

StLouisRams.com reported that Keenum was diagnosed with a concussion after the game. If action is required, they can send the video of the incident to the appropriate person on sideline, so that the trainer or the team doctor can take the necessary action, like pulling the player from the game.

The failure of staff to pull Keenum from the game has opened a discussion in the U.S. about whether the NFL’s policy of an independent assessor to make judgements about a player’s health is working.

Lions 18, Raiders 13: Matthew Stafford ran for a go-ahead 5-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter, and host Detroit (3-7) won consecutive games for the first time this season. On top of that, the Ravens have suffered a slew of serious injuries, including linebacker Terrell Suggs’ torn Achilles at the beginning of the season.

However, Keenum remained in the game and two plays later he fumbled and Baltimore recovered.

“I think it’s the ACL and MCL”, Flacco said. “Matt Shaub is going to have to step up and get us a few more wins”. Although Aaron Rodgers only went 16-34, he also had two touchdowns and 212 yards.

St. Louis went into the game without rookie starting right tackle Rob Havenstein (calf) and shifted right guard Andrew Donnel to tackle, until he departed with a knee injury that Fisher fears might be serious.

On Sunday, all responsible parties failed to protect Keenum. Quarterbacks and running backs were hit particularly hard this week, so waiver wires will be hopping with activity in coming days as fantasy owners look to fill-in roster holes and fortify starting lineups with the playoffs quickly approaching.

The fantasy world was given a swift gut punch on Sunday when Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) was labeled inactive prior to the 4:25 pm ET kickoff between the Seahawks and 49ers.
