The only time Manning ever missed a start in his 18-year career came when he sat out the entire 2011 season following a series of neck surgeries that ultimately led to his departure from Indianapolis and his signing with the Broncos.

Manning has been suffering from plantar fascitis in his right foot this season, and he appeared on the team’s injury report before the tilt against the Chiefs.
“You practice new things and then you discuss what you like about it, what you don’t like about it and just move forward from there”, Osweiler said. Now he’ll get his chance.
The last time Osweiler stepped on the field as a starter, he threw a 78-yard pass to Andre Caldwell down the seam for a touchdown in the Broncos’ preseason finale against Arizona.
That prompted coach Gary Kubiak to make the switch with the Broncos (7-2) in a two-game slide heading into their game at Chicago (4-5). Everyone has to quit loading all the mess in Denver on Manning the Executive made a decision to to change the scheme and run the ball but he did not bring in the talent to do so or to protect his QB Manning needs help he can not win the game by himself.
At this point, for a team trying to win a Super Bowl, it is hard to imagine Manning is a better option than back-up Brock Osweiler until Manning is once again 100% healthy, whenever that might be. “We have full faith in everyone on this team to step in and do the job”. Because Father Time is undefeated and judging by Manning’s play this year he is about to claim another victim.
There was never any shame in sitting behind Manning.
Saints fire defensive coordinator • New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton said Rob Ryan has been fired as defensive coordinator and senior defensive assistant Dennis Allen will assume Ryan’s duties. This season he had just nine TD passes and a league-high 17 interceptions. Rookie Trevor Siemian, the team’s seventh-round draft pick in this year’s draft, will be Osweiler’s backup against the Bears. I guess it could be, but to me, that’s an easy way out, kind of an easy line to say after the fact….
So let’s look at who is next, and what it will take for a few of today’s top quarterbacks to break his record.
Osweiler has looked adept running the roll-outs, bootlegs and sprint-outs that might get more use this weekend.
Attribute those figures to any other player at mid-season and they would be riding the bench.

For all the choices an National Football League coach must make, there aren’t many more challenging or complicated than sticking a star player on the sideline. If Osweiler performs well, who gets the nod at quarterback for the remainder of the season?
