Marc Marquez qualifies fastest for German Grand Prix

Marquez, of Repsol Honda, set a new circuit record early in the session with a lap time of 1:20.838 – 0.099 seconds faster than his pole lap time in 2014.
Hernandez had to come through Q1, but went on to match his best ever qualifying result of fifth ahead of the championship leader and Assen victor Valentino Rossi. “I’m happy with the work we did but [the race] is the most important”.
“I was happy with my first feeling in the first run but (Cal) Crutchlow didn’t see me and ruined my lap”, Pedrosa said.
“Apart from that, I’m on the second row and that’s not so far behind and my pace is quite good”.
“If you look at today’s pace, Marquez is very strong and Pedrosa is the second, but very close”.
“It seems the Honda (used by Marquez) has no problems”, said Lorenzo.
“They’re able to brake later and accelerate very soon”. It will be tough to stay with them… “All the essentials are there, I will try to fight with Jorge, ride a good race and try to arrive in front of him and score more points”.

Rossi may be winless at the Sachsenring since 2009 – the last of his four wins in the race – but he finished fourth here previous year and claimed a podium place with third in 2013.
