3 things we learned about the Dolphins

Tony Romo returned to action Sunday for the first time since his collarbone was broken two months ago and coincidentally, the Dallas Cowboys won for the first time since his September injury. Ryan Tannehill has improved his deep ball ability, connecting on two again this game, and having two more that should have been caught, but ended as incomplete passes thanks to good defense or drops from the wide outs (though his poor read on the interception and his knack for trying to extend plays by running backwards only to take a sack further back continues to be an issue).

The Dallas Cowboys finally snapped their seven-game losing streak with an impressive showing against the Miami Dolphins last Sunday. They have the Panthers, undefeated, 10-0, coming to Dallas next week.

The team is now 3-0 with Romo starting and 0-7 in games started by someone else and that gives Dallas a few confidence heading into the back stretch of the schedule.

Even though they are 10-0 now, the Panthers are bound to lose a game or two sooner or later.

“[Tony] being back gives everybody that much more juice”, Bryant said. “Nothing against Brandon. Nothing against Matt. But we all know who our leader is”. He came into training camp nursing a sore knee from his offseason surgery and missed the first four games of the year due to a drug related suspension, so he never had the chance to get himself in game shape. He stepped in front of a pass by Ryan Tannehill intended for Greg Jennings.

Only one time in the game did Miami even gain a first down after sustaining a penalty on a drive. “That’s why it’s the NFL”.

“We want to play like hell and play well against Carolina”, Jones said.

Romo, facing a blitz on a third-and-6 at the Dolphins’ 12, lobbed a pass toward the end zone that was easily intercepted by cornerback Brent Grimes.

“I walked out to warm-ups and said, ‘Well, let’s see”.

Romo soon settled down and showed his characteristic creativity. The left-handed desperation lob allowed him to avoid a safety on the Cowboys’ opening possession, and he later spun 360 degrees out of trouble for a key completion.

In the fourth quarter, however, just when a trite narrative has always stated that Romo struggles, he helped the Cowboys pull away.

“And things that are said in there are between us”. “He has been for a long time”. McFadden had 129 rushing yards against the Dolphins and he now is the clear lead back for the team with Joseph Randle and Christine Michael off the roster.

Darren McFadden and the newest Cowboy, Robert Turbin, combined for 164 yards on 36 carries.

“We’ve got to stop the run”, Miami defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh said. We are good when we do it right. That’s pretty much as simple as it gets. With just over a minute left in the half, Tannehill drove the Dolphins down the field and capped off the drive with a touchdown pass to Jordan Cameron to cut the deficit to 14-7 going into half.

“We’ve heard it, so it’s out there and we all know how it turned out so we’ll hopefully think about that and get ourselves ready to go”, Rivera said.
