Hollande to meet Obama as U.S. wavers on Russian role
With new presidential elections approaching in the United States, it’s looking more and more likely that President Obama will leave office long before President Assad.

Obama brought up the 9/11 analogy when he answered questions at a news conference Sunday. “This is a practical issue, not just a matter of conscience”.
Obama on November 22 had said that Russian Federation is facing a strategic choice as Assad can’t remain in power.
“The eight-point plan itself is not central to the discussions in Vienna but Russian Federation is, and we want to be working very carefully and closely and continually with all of those around the Vienna table to come to agreement on how to implement the Geneva communique”, Rycroft said.
Hadi al-Bahra, a member of the coalition’s political committee, said the main problem was Assad and any political process needed to tackle this with assurances and guarantees.
“In addition to chasing terrorists, and more effective information, and more missile strikes, the most powerful tool we have to combat Islamic State Group (EI) is to say that we have not afraid”. In the days since the group claimed responsibility for attacks in Paris that killed 130 people, Hollande has called for the US and Russian Federation to begin coordinating efforts in Iraq and Syria.
French warplanes took off from France’s Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier for the first time Monday, aiming for Islamic State (IS) targets in Iraq and Syria. Backdrop Obama and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak were speaking separately Saturday at an Asian summit taking place against the backdrop of recent violence including the bombing of a Russian jet over Egypt, a suicide bombing in Beirut, a series of attacks in Paris, the slaying of a Malaysian hostage by militants in the Philippines and Friday’s attack on a Mali hotel. USA officials have said Russian Federation has started focusing a few airstrikes against IS. It’s unclear whether any of the terrorists in the Paris attacks exploited the refugee system to enter Europe, though Obama has insisted that’s not a legitimate security threat in the United States. We need to show global solidarity to address ” the common enemy of ISIL, Daesh, a few other extremists and terrorist groups”, he said, referring to Islamic State. He took a softer tone Sunday, saying he understands Americans’ concerns but urging them not to give into fear.

Moscow also uses bombers from Russian air bases to launch air strikes it says have been requested by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
