More than half of the Palestinians killed have been alleged attackers, while others were shot during demonstrations and clashes with Israeli security forces, including along the Gaza border.

A almost week-long lull in the violence was shattered on Thursday when knife, gun and car-ramming attacks in Tel Aviv and the West Bank killed five people, including an American, three Israelis and a Palestinian.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his government would revoke the work permits of the families of Palestinian attackers, the Jerusalem Post newspaper reported.

Her 14-year-old cousin Nurhan Awad was also involved in the attack and was seriously injured after being shot multiple times by the two Israeli men. Palestinians have also accused Israel of using excessive force, saying a few attackers could be stopped without being killed.

In another attack, a Palestinian was shot dead when trying to stab an Israeli soldier near Huwara to the south of Nablus. The alleged assailant was shot and killed following the attempt. The man, who was later identified as also being Palestinian, was slightly wounded.

The incidents occurred a day before USA secretary of state John Kerry was due to visit Israel and the Palestinian territories to discuss ways to try to stem the violence.

“Video of attacks in Jerusalem this morning”, tweeted Amnesty worldwide researcher Jacob Burns.

On Saturday evening, a Palestinian man stabbed and injured four Israelis in the southern Israeli town of Kiryat Gat. A soldier on the scene then fired at her and killed her. “We are entering into villages, communities and homes and are carrying out widespread arrests”, said Netanyahu, who appeared to be wearing a bulky flak jacket under his coat.

Meanwhile in the northern West Bank, a motorist hit an Israeli near the Shavei Shomron settlement in what may have been a deliberate attack, the army said.

The Palestinian health ministry said the Palestinian who was shot was 16.

The current wave of unrest began in mid-September amid tensions over the Al-Asqa Mosque compound in Jerusalem, known to Jews as the Temple Mount, which is a site sacred to both Muslims and Jews.
