NY City councilman Andy King said police were still trying to work out who was the mother of the child but said it appeared likely that the child belonged to the 22-year-old victim and had been “crudely” removed by the alleged perpetrator.

A 22-year-old woman died after police say she was stabbed multiple times in the Bronx Friday afternoon during an argument with another woman.
Wade later told investigators that she had attacked Sutton in self-defense when the very pregnant woman came at her with a knife, sources said.
Doctors said the baby girl is healthy and autopsy and blood tests will confirm who her mother is.
Police said they believe the woman killed is the mother, but the accused attacker claims it is her baby.
Detectives discovered a knife and placenta in the blood-spattered apartment building when they responded to an emergency call from the victim’s boyfriend, who walked in to discover the scene, authorities said.
In the days before the murder, Wade said she and Sutton socialized at Applebees in Co-op City and even went to an area Toys R’ Us in anticipation of Sutton’s baby. “No I want to hold my grand babies a little tighter”, resident Anne Parker said.
The baby was unhurt and is being cared for at a hospital in the Bronx.
“She was wrapped up and there was a large amount of cops around her”, Rivera told the Daily News. “It’s a shocker to me and my wife”, Praylow’s father, Steven Praylow, told the Post. “I don’t know what’s going on”.
Neighbors also testified to the pregnant woman being a quiet sort who rarely exchanged words with them, except the occasional greeting. The baby survived and was taken to a local hospital, King said.

So far, police have not identified the victim or the suspect.
