While Lionel Messi stayed off the pitch during the initial part of the game, it was with Luis Suarez’s goal in the 10 minute which set the tone for the match.
And reports in Spain had suggested appointing the hugely popular former French legend and Real Madrid reserve team coach Zinedine Zidane could help Perez ease the fans’ frustration with his running of the club.

Barcelona-Real Madrid rivalry will resume on April 3 next year when Rafa Benitez and his squad visit Camp Nou.
However, he said there had been no discussion about holding new elections at a board meeting on Monday, at which it was decided that Benitez, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti at the end of last term, retained the club’s “full support and confidence”.
The Real Madrid papers focused on the damage the result had done to club President, Florentino Perez: “A hammering for Florentino”, headlines AS, whose editor, Alfredo Relano highlighting “the Bernabeu turns against the Directors’ box”. “We’ve let La Liga titles slip away with ten-point leads and we’ve won others after trailing by a lot of points”, the 2010 World Cup victor said.
“I really enjoyed it from the hotel and I congratulate them on the win”.
