Osweiler subs for Manning, leads Broncos over Bears 17-15

The extra time off will allow Manning to not only rest his bruised body and prepare his arm for the long stretch of the season but to also study how he can adjust his game and his offense, while accounting for his undeniable physical limitations.

Manning didn’t practice or attend meetings last week as he received treatment on his left foot, bruised ribs and sore throwing shoulder, injuries that sidelined him at midseason for the first time in his 18-year career. He has an injury in the oblique and one on the foot as well. As many already know, Manning has struggled this year. All of a sudden, he’s running [head coach] Gary Kubiak’s and, quite frankly, he has just not been effective. “We want him to get healthy and do whatever he can”. “At that point in the game, we felt that was going to be maybe our last opportunity so we were aggressive and came up short on fourth-and-4”. “It’ll be Brock’s team eventually”.

Word on the street is Manning plans to play in 2016 even if not for the Broncos.

Then there are the quite possibly more realistic among you who know the final score is the final score, the Bears are the 4-6 team their record says they are, but actually a little bit ahead of where nearly everyone expected them to be right now, and this one against Denver perhaps shouldn’t have been quite as close as it was.

He appeared calm as he led the Broncos with 2-of-2 passing during the opening drive for 56 yards. “I think they did a lot of good schemed-up things that a lot of young guys on our defense hasn’t seen and they took advantage of it”. This will be his second straight start over for Peyton Manning, who was benched for a combination of disappointing play and an assortment of injuries that he’s accumulated.

But Kubiak was non-committal when asked if Osweiler would even start will start next week against the New England Patriots. “They want a quarterback for the future”. With that said, I have one basic question for you; what do you freakin’ think you’re doing? Are you winning in spite of him or because of him? Slightly higher than the 0.0 rating that Peyton Manning had registered the week before. There are obviously areas where the Broncos’ offense can improve, but Osweiler did really well with what was in my opinion a pretty abbreviated playbook but a gameplan executed very well. There were sacks as a result of good pressure from blitzing, but there was also some bad blocking and some indecision from Osweiler.

CHICAGO (AP) – Brock Osweiler sure looked ready to step in for Peyton Manning.

Osweiler learned he would get the call on Monday, one day after he was 20 of 27 in his first career start in a 17-15 win over the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

Rewind back to a year ago and we’ve seen this same narrative before.

“We said that we would go back and review the entire situation at the beginning of this week, which we have done”.

Denver’s Brock Osweiler completed passes for 250 yards with two touchdowns at Chicago on Sunday
