Salvation Army feeds Thanksgiving need
The Salvation Army is calling for generous residents to visit its charity shop, where a Christmas tree has been covered in tags describing a variety of people in need, choose a tag and buy a gift for the person mentioned. The plaque is now in the Centre’s kitchen. So, if you’d like to help families across the community receive a Christmas meal, all you have to do is deliver your donation to the Salvation Army on Putnam Avenue.

Santa Cruz Mayor Don Lane remarked that those like him in the public sector know there are many community needs that can not be satisfied without help.
Jerry Morrison, Chairperson for the Mahaska County Salvation Army, said that the bells are now ringing in the Mahaska County area.

Organizers of the 106 annual Thanksgiving Day 10K Race have made changes so folks don’t walk away with boxes of snacks for hungry runners like they did a year ago. “We usually take applications through the first week of December and put them on waiting lists, but in the past we’ve been able to help most people who need it”. Our little family will be able to have our own Christmas Day meal and the children will have gifts.
Any angels left on the trees are still provided for through surplus donations of the community.
