Colin Kaepernick’s Time With The 49ers Is Reportedly Over

It’s been a year of nothing but avalanches for the 49ers and the faithful, from the closing moments of the previous season up until now, and nothing positive seems to be waiting for them anytime soon.

Speculation is building that this could also mean the end of the line for Kaepernick with the 49ers.

Vernon Davis (left) has already left and Colin Kaepernick has probably played his last game for the 49ers. When the injury continued to bother him following the team’s recent bye week, doctors re-examined the shoulder and he was listed on the weekly practice participation report. Those images were sent to a specialist in Colorado who said that the quarterback had a “significant” tear in his labrum. “This signals that there may be more than just medical that leads to this decision on the part of one or both parties”.

However, Kaepernick would likely argue that the 49ers abandoned him after he signed his contract extension.

The move from the 49ers comes as a surprise, as Kaepernick was listed all week as probable ahead of Sunday’s game in Seattle.

Kaepernick was 29th in passer rating (78.5) when he went to the bench.

– The 49ers still have not scored a first-quarter touchdown this season, and they got shut out in that opening stanza for the seventh time in 10 games.

Kaepernick has compiled a 27-20 record in regular-season starts. Kaepernick on Friday told The Bee that the injury originally occurred against the Packers in Week 4. Recovery time is estimated at 4-6 months. He has passed for 10,030 yards with 56 touchdowns and 26 interceptions in the regular season.

-RUN DEFENSE: F. Speaking of Lynch… he’s never had a day as productive as Rawls, who not only rushed for 209 yards but also caught three passes for an additional 46 yards. The 49ers have until April 1 to cut or trade Kaepernick before his base salary for 2016 becomes fully guaranteed.

It’s possible the team will have over $60 million in salary cap space next year. It was easy to trade Alex Smith, the loser in Kaepernick’s remarkable ascent to the starting job in 2012, when he was healthy and playing well. His health isn’t expected to be a factor, however. “It will be the same as all our other guys that are on I.R.”, he said. Then he played his trump card: using an injury to his non-throwing shoulder to possibly parlay a handsome settlement.
