Americans oppose Syrian refugees in US
The married couple and their 5-year-old son had been living as refugees in Jordan and been waiting three years to resettle in the United States.

The GOP leadership brought a resolution up for a vote Tuesday, the same day it was introduced.
“I heard from White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough and other federal officials today about the stringent vetting process that foreign refugees go through before ever entering the United States”, said Governor Walker.
The governors were responding to last week’s attacks in Paris.
The White House sought Tuesday to reassure US governors concerned about accepting Syrian refugees following the attacks in Paris.
The first step is an overseas interview with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees agency in countries like Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, which then refers a small number for possible resettlement to the US.
Abbott’s announcement made Texas the third state to declare it would block Syrian refugees from resettling. Republican presidential candidates have come out in opposition to Obama’s ISIS policy and allowing refugees to come to the country because, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, unless the fingerprints or biometric scans (face scans) match the men, women, and children coming into America to a terror alert database, we have no real way to determine if individual is an ISIS fighter.
More than half of the nation’s governors, a lot of them Republican, have moved to stop the flow of Syrian refugees into their respective states.
On Wednesday, the American Civil Liberties Union of New Mexico criticized Martinez for her recent take on the Syrian refugee situation, calling it “fearmongering”. We have to be insane.
Some of the most conservative House Republicans backed an amendment that would put a six-month moratorium on admitting refugees from Syria and Iraq. Just 28% of all Americans – including 32% of Republicans and 17% of Democrats – said the religion is inherently violent, while 64% – 61% of Republicans and 76% of Democrats – said it is not.
Vetting of refugees entering the U.S. is rigorous and can take years.
“I think as a Jew I have a certain perspective”, Schakowsky said, recounting the story of the St. Louis, a refugee ship turned away from Cuba and Florida in 1939 and sent back to Europe, where hundreds of its Jewish passengers were killed in the Holocaust.
Governor Jay Inslee says he won’t join the growing list of governors who say they don’t want Syrian refugees within their state borders. President Obama wants to allow 10,000 more.
JONES: Vetting them isn’t going to get – isn’t going to come up with a match because their names haven’t gotten on a database.

The Republicans continue to pursue their offensive against the acceptance of Syrian refugees in the United States because reports are that one of the terrorists implicated in the Paris attacks entered Europe as part of the wave of Syrians fleeing from the internal conflict in their homeland. And the U.S. system of choosing is complicated. “Because there’s no way to background check someone that’s coming from Syria”.
