Ohio State will not discipline Ezekiel Elliott for postgame comments
Elliott was limited to 33 yards on 12 carries on a day when Ohio State had only five first downs and produced only 132 yards total offense. “I’m disappointed in the play calling, I’m disappointed in the situations we were put in, and I wish it all played out differently”.

Following Ohio State’s demoralizing loss against MI State, head coach Urban Meyer was understandably disappointed. Jones did not play Saturday. With starting quarterback Connnor Cook out with an injured shoulder, Ohio State wanted to put pressure on starter Tyler O’Connor and back-up Damion Terry, but MI State’s offensive line wouldn’t let that happen.
“For us it is a regular week, in the media world it isn’t because we don’t lose around here often”, Decker said.
Elliott posted his apology in a long Twtter message, which read as follows: “I am sorry for all those offended by the statements made by me Saturday after OUR loss”.
The loss ends Ohio State’s FBS-leading 23-game winning streak and Big Ten record 30-game conference winning streak.1 There’s little time to pout, however, with a visit to That School Up North looming.
This Saturday will be the toughest MI team we’ve seen in years and it’s all because of one guy, Coach Harbaugh. The next talented player who falls in the draft because of a “too honest” moment after a game will be the first. Those plays weren’t called anymore. “We weren’t put in the right situations to win this game”. Didn’t we do that after Alabama lost to Ole Miss?
And as the first scout pointed out, the most substantial takeaway from Elliott’s postgame comments was the extent of his leg infection as Elliott revealed that he didn’t think he was going to play because he couldn’t walk earlier in the week. But he didn’t show any ill effects and said he felt perfectly fine at game time. Meyer acknowledged that Elliott is in his ear on the sideline all the time – and likely heard from him Saturday.
“No, I was not content. I call a lot of plays anyways”.
After seeing all of this, it got me to thinking: what is Urban Meyer doing about it? I have to make the most of my time left. I think he’s very close to having that.
No, everything about Ohio State this season has been heavy and tiresome – including its play calling. “I watched it for a second as it flew through the air, it was straight, and I don’t even know if I saw it go through the uprights because by then I was gone, I was running”. But honestly, it didn’t work out. MI State, meanwhile, ran the ball 51 times for 203 yards. His 2.8 yards per carry average was a career-low in games with double-digit rush attempts.
Meyer also said, “I couldn’t disagree with his comments – he should have gotten ball more”.
It all came down to Spartan kicker Michael Geiger, who drilled the game-winning 41-yard field goal on the final play, giving them the victory.

Elliott apologized Monday, tweeting out a message that included: “My intentions were not to point fingers at anyone for OUR failure. He’s a very well-thought of junior, and he gets a microphone stuck in his face, and obviously, we do not condone that and encourage that”, Meyer said.
