Last year, the third movie in the series, “Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” opened with $122 million, which was a comparatively lower opening compared to the earlier movies of the series.

For those not caught up, we begin Mockingjay – Part 2 ready for our rebel heroes to finally storm the castle and take back the Capitol from the oppressive President Snow (Donald Sutherland).
“Lawrence, the undisputed star of the franchise, received the bulk of the praise, with Leah Greenblatt of Entertainment Weekly saying she skillfully carries the movie, and NY Magazine critic David Edelstein saying, “‘Mockingjay – Part 2’ is all Lawrence, though a couple of others have their moments”.
The three previous Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence, already grossed a total of $2.3 billion in worldwide box-office sales. The second film “Catching Fire” reeled in $25.2 million from Thursday night screenings.
As a book purist who adored the novels, I feel as if part two was a patchwork collection of snapshots thrown together to form a series of disjointed images that you could only understand had you watched the first movie.
Katniss Everdeen and her bow and arrow are making the Hollywood box office quiver in anticipation this weekend. However the upcoming film will draw the curtains for the Hunger games series. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 2 is also the Lionsgate studio’s biggest release to date. Once Katniss agrees to become the “Mockingjay,” the heavily tattooed Cressida and her camera crew (Messalla, Castor, and Pollux) are assigned to produce “propos” inciting the other Districts to join in the rebellion. The success of the movie raised Jennifer Lawrence to superstar status immediately.

The filmmaker credits the three young headliners for the positive on-set environment, which includs the gruelling eleven months of shooting both Mockingjay films. Following 2012’s “Hunger Games”, Lawrence’s box office average skyrocketed to $218.2 million. I dont know. Francis Lawrences primary concern seems to be his aversion to retreading familiar territory which makes sense.
