Arsenal was looking to avenge a 2-1 defeat they had suffered to Dinamo Zagreb in an earlier Champions League match.

The other Group F game is on Fox Deportes with Bayern Munich vs Olympiacos at 2:45pm.

Its a vital game for the Gunners and surely one in which they should win in front of their home fans, and their price of 2/9 to win tonight speaks volumes as to how the bookies rate their chances. “Certainly for the next two months we play without Coquelin”, Wenger said.

The Gunners did their job with Ozil and Sanchez putting them two-up in the first half, before the latter added a second to kill the game off with just over 20 minutes remaining.

Santi Cazorla scooped over from close range with the first meaningful opportunity of the match before Olivier Giroud saw strong penalty appeals waved away by referee Viktor Kassai and Arsenal found themselves frustrated as Dinamo defended in numbers as the half progressed.

Arsenal received a Champions League lifeline on Tuesday courtesy of Alexis Sanchez’s double and assistance from Bayern Munich.

“Hector Bellerin, I took him off because he had a groin problem just before so I had to take them off meaning I could not take Alexis off. We now have five days to recover. It will be tough but we have to believe we can do it and I believe we can do it”.

“First of all we need to win”.

Midfielder Ozil has had his critics since making the £42.4m move to Arsenal from Real Madrid in September 2013 – but he has arguably been the Gunners’ most influential player this season.

Wenger’s side are now in with a real chance of salvaging qualification from the group stage.

“I don’t know if I would have the support of anybody, but I came out on that and as a result we had a doping control from UEFA on Friday”, he said. Both did it well and it gives us a chance.

Sanchez scored the second after poor defending from Leonardo Sigali, whose weak clearance from inside his area was intercepted by Nacho Monreal who set up Sanchez for a tap-in.

The Frenchman went on to hail Sanchez’s form, and admitted that he wanted to take the Chile global off ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash against Norwich, but was unable to after already making three substitutions. So the Arsenal boss questions why the Dinamo win should not be cancelled out for the Dinamo’s player violation?
