Gerrard laments Sterling ‘carry-on’

Ex- Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, who is preparing to make his debut for new club LA Galaxy this weekend, has expressed his disappointment over the affair and this week’s developments.

Sterling also does not want to travel for the tour of Asia and Australia.

“He’s not flavor of the month with Liverpool fans at the moment, I can’t blame them for it, they’ve shown him great support and they all believe the best place for him to be is at Liverpool and I firmly believe that as well”.

Manchester City have already tried to sign the 20-year-old twice this summer but both bids were rejected by the Reds as they fell short of Sterling’s £50 million price tag.

While fellow Dutchman Van Persie is expected to soon complete his transfer to Turkish side Fenerbahce, despite reported late interest from Spanish duo Valencia and Atletico Madrid, the David De Gea situation is more delicate as United and Real Madrid are still embroiled over the player’s valuation.

Raheem Sterling appears to have re-entered the Liverpool fold after attending a pre-season training session this morning.

“I’m not here to create headlines, but as a Liverpool fan, I’m very disappointed in the situation”, Gerrard said. “So I don’t think it’s fair on them if he is behaving like that”.

Gerrard told BBC Sport said: “Jordan’s been loyal to the club by signing a new deal and I wish him well”. Although an established player, Sterling has a long way to go before he can be considered one of the world’s best.

Balotelli has been left out along with Fabio Borini and Jose Enrique, with the trio due to continue their pre-season preparations at Melwood, although their absence raises questions over their futures with the club. It looks very disappointing from where I’m sitting.

Protocol dictates Sterling has to be assessed by the club’s medical staff to determine the extent of his illness and if he is deemed to be fit enough to train there is the possibility of him being fined. “Jordan’s so professional, he’s a victor, a great lad”.

In a day of double delight for Henderson he was also named on the cover of video game Federation Internationale de Football Association 16 in the United Kingdom, beating Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Thibaut Courtois to the honor after the public votes were counted.

Sterling’s actions represent the desperate moves of a player who has alienated himself from his team-mates, a player who is intent on not playing for Liverpool again-particularly under Rodgers.
