Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors go for a 16-0 start tonight against the Los Angeles Lakers hoping to break the league record for most wins without a defeat to start the season. They won each of those games where they scored 128 points but lost the following game.

“We are genuinely addicted to the feeling of winning”, said Curry. “That’s what we’re fueled by. I think this is a dream”. “I think we’re on the right end of the spectrum, which is great”.

The reigning National Basketball Association champion Warriors matched the record 15-0 opening achieved by Washington in 1948-49 and by the Houston Rockets in 1993-94.

The teams that defeated Golden State last season shot more free throws than the Warriors in 11 of the 15 games. “They play as a team”. For every 1st place vote a team gets, they receive 15 points.

“It’s kind of a quiet confidence that we don’t feel like we’re going to lose anytime soon”, Curry said after Sunday’s win. In a game against the Los Angeles Clippers last week, for example, the Warriors were down 10 in the fourth quarter when their superhero lineup assembled.

“We’ve had a pretty good run with injuries, guys not missing games and touch wood it doesn’t happen, but I’m sure we’ll get to a point where we are resting guys at certain points in the season and they are games that could go either way”.

“They’ve been consistent and they have been playing at a high level for so long”. But tickets didn’t start getting really pricey until the Warriors beat the Nuggets on Sunday to tie the record for the best start to the season and set them up for a chance to make a new record.

One win away from the most consecutive wins to start a season, interim coach Luke Walton downplayed the record’s significance to the overall outcome of the season.

Confetti streamed down when the final buzzer sounded and Golden State’s players barely celebrated. Jordan Clarkson led the Lakers in scoring with 19 points and four rebounds while Bryant had 18 points and four assists but shot a woeful 27 percent from the field.

The Warriors are at the cusp of history without head coach Steve Kerr, who is recovering from two offseason back surgeries. “Let’s just say that”. “Then there would be a conversation to talk about”, James said.
